It seems love is in the air once again at our railway stations.

No sooner had I written about the marriage proposal at Birmingham New Street station than comes news of another at London Euston.

Nirmal Chohan from London got down on one knee in front of the departure boards at Euston station as his girlfriend Vidya Patel arrived on a visit from her home in Birmingham.

Avanti West Coast helped out with some helpful indicators.

Mr Chohan said: “Euston holds a lot of positive experiences, at times it felt like a Bollywood movie, with the hustle and bustle of people, trains left, right, and centre, and then me trying to woo the love of my life.”

That for me is what the railways are all about: the people. It’s the stories behind every trip which mean so much more than timetables. And journeys can lead to life-changing events.

Who else is getting on board the love train?
